CrimsonCast Ep 629 - Football Friends

October 31, 2019

It's an all-football episode of CrimsonCast as we welcome some old friends back to talk about the Hoosiers. First we welcome former Indy Star and Hoosier Network reporter Teddy Bailey back to the podcast to get his take on IU's season and discuss what makes this year's team different. Next, we welcome longtime CrimsonCast contributor Mike Petry back to the show and have a deep discussion about IU's offense, particularly the quarterback situation and how it has interacted with the playcalling and overall philosophy of Kalen DeBoer. Finally, we bring back our new wagering segment, "CrimsonCash" with James Turner, as we look at the gambling line for this week's contest, and James debuts the Big One O.

Be sure to check us out on Twitter at @CrimsonCast, and tune in throughout the week for more podcasts on IU football and basketball.

CrimsonCast Ep 628 - Indiana Football with Zach Osterman

October 29, 2019

Indiana football fans continue to bask in the glory of this past weekend's win in Lincoln, and we're here to talk about it on CrimsonCast. Joining DoctorGC for a late Monday night episode is Indy Star insider Zach Osterman. We get Zach's thoughts and evaluations on the game, and talk about this edition of Indiana's ability to make the little plays that often define the distance between winning and losing in college football. We also chat about how recruiting has helped define this Indiana team, and how the depth of Indiana's recruiting classes is showing in positive ways.

We also take some Twitter questions, and discuss the excitement felt by certain segments of the fan base, the importance of the Northwestern game in terms of the overall narrative, and the potential bowl scenarios that IU could find itself in with six, seven, eight, and/or more wins remaining on the season.

CrimsonCast Ep 627 - Indiana won at Nebraska

DoctorGC was on-site in Nebraska for Indiana's thrilling 38-31 victory over the Cornhuskers, so we had to record this pod under adverse circumstances --- phone signal in Missouri was pathetic. But nevertheless we give you the full breakdown of our observations about a pivotal game in recent Indiana football history, from the atmosphere of the game to the execution of the plan, and the open road that suddenly presents itself to the Hoosiers over the last month of the season and beyond.

TheHoosier.com beat reporter Taylor Lehman sat down with Steve Risley and Cole Hanna to discuss thoughts surrounding the Indiana basketball secret scrimmage against Marquette last weekend.

Included in the discussion were thoughts on free throw shooting, perimeter game offensively and defensively, what if Rob Phinisee and/or Devonte Green miss time, Joey Brunk potential and more.

CrimsonCast Ep 626 - Basketball Expectations with Ben Ladner

CrimsonCast Ep 626 - Basketball Expectations with Ben Ladner

October 24, 2019

Back with another IU basketball podcast, DoctorGC sits down with former Inside The Hall veteran Ben Ladner to talk about the Indiana men's basketball team this season. We discuss the potential impact of the newcomers, the lack of clear lessons from the practice game, the potential interplay between the guards, swingmen, and post players, and the concerns that Ben has about this team's shooting (yes, again).

We also get into a decently deep conversation about IU's four factors on both offense and defense. Will the Hoosiers crank up the offensive rebounding this year? Can they drop their turnover rate? Do they want to up their defensive turnover rate? Is it plausible that IU could actually be in the top 40 of college basketball teams this year?

CrimsonCast Ep 624 - Recapping the Maryland Game

CrimsonCast Ep 624 - Recapping the Maryland Game

October 20, 2019

Indiana is at the 5 win mark and we're still 11 days shy of Halloween! Lots to talk about in the aftermath of yesterday's 34-28 win over Maryland. Scott is back from Florida, and we take a close look at the key elements of IU's victory. Early offense, late defense, a lack of turnovers, some effective bullpen innings from Peyton Ramsey, and some key defensive stops helped the Hoosiers in this one. We talk about all those items, discuss the things IU needs to tighten up as they move forward, and answer some reader comments and questions, on this episode of CrimsonCast.

Be sure to tune in every Friday for our weekly IU football preview show, and on Sundays for our recap podcast. Always follow us @CrimsonCast on Twitter. And chime in with your voice! You can reach us via CrimsonCast Voices at https://anchor.fm/doctorgc/message

CrimsonCast Ep 623 - Maryland Preview

October 18, 2019

IU Football embarks on a two-game road trip this weekend, with their first date away from home taking them to College Park to battle the Maryland Terrapins. A lot is riding on this game for both teams, but for IU especially, it feels like a must-win in order to keep building positive momentum and increase their chances at bowl eligibility.

DoctorGC talks with Taylor Lehman of TheHoosier.com during the first segment of the podcast, and we cover a variety of items going on with IU football, including discussions on the current state of the defense, the change in offensive approach under Kalen DeBoer, the importance of confidence, and the issues Maryland is having with injuries. We also take some comments and questions from the audience.

The last segment introduces James Turner, who gives us some wagering advice on this game, and talks a bit about the background of the spread between these two squads.

Be sure to check us out on Sunday as we provide a full recap of IU - Maryland, and a quick preview of next week's contest. And as always, be sure to follow along on Twitter @CrimsonCast.
